As Richard Branson once said ‘Clients do not come first. Employees come first. If you take care of your employees, they will take care of the clients’. This is something that we at Chiumento fully embrace. For us creating and nurturing a company culture based on trust, one where employees are involved in the strategic direction of the company, rewarding outputs not inputs and one where there is an equal balance between work and home life was more than a box ticking exercise. It wasn’t something we built so we could simply say we have one, for us it was essential part of our organisational success and our values are interwoven into everything we do.
This is why we’re proud of the fact that following a reassessment in the autumn of 2016 we have regained the Investors in People Gold standard that we were first awarded in 2014. When we started our journey with Investors in People way back in 1998 we were the first HR consultancy to gain accreditation and now almost 20 years later we are one of only around 3% of organisations to hold gold status. A badge of honour that is seen as an achievement of world class best practice in the field of employee development and is only awarded to those providing the highest standards of personnel management.
This is something that we are extremely proud of, as gaining gold standard is no mean feat. We underwent a very thorough assessment, involving detailing over 160 evidence requirements across a number of business areas, including learning & development, social responsibility, people management, employee empowerment and business strategy.
Not only does it show that we practice what we preach, but ultimately, for us, it demonstrates that we have a diverse and talented workforce that makes the most of people’s talents, helping us adapt to new projects effectively and allowing for continuous improvement and development both individually and across the wider business.
