Senior HR Officer/ HR Business Partner

My client operates within a niche and highly valuable area of heavy industry and this post is based at a very specialist site within their business group.  You will support the site client group though some of your managers work across dual sites as does one of your direct reports.  The position requires a senior hire who has plenty of initiative but understands the requirement for seamless working across both this site and their key Hertfordshire site where you will work up to one day per week.

Role purpose:

To provide a responsive, efficient and professional HR service to site in Enfield consisting of 250 employees.  Particular emphasis is placed on the day to day management of the HR service in Enfield and working with the Hertfordshire based HR team to develop processes and procedures which are consistent across both sites, whilst ensuring that they meet the requirements of the business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide advice on HR issues; specifically on employee relations, recruitment and retention, reward and benefit issues and time and attendance.
  • Manage, control and administer local terms and conditions to ensure adherence to Company policy and legislative requirements
  • Administer a timely recruitment & selection process in order to ensure all vacancies are filled in a timely and professional manner and that the Company profile is raised within the market place. Actively participate in selection interviews, as necessary
  • Provide support to managers on employee performance management and at disciplinary hearings
  • Provide support to the business on effectively managing health capability matters
  • Manage the site monthly payroll, annual salary review and bonus processes
  • Support the business on integrating the attributes and behaviours framework
  • Work with the Learning and Development team with the objective of raising levels of performance within the workplace
  • Facilitate the management of talent within the business to ensure that high levels of performance are maintained and that succession plans are in place
  • Support the business with organisational restructures and contractual change
  • Develop new processes in line with business need with particular reference to LEAN manufacturing
  • With the HR team ensure that processes are applied consistently across sites.
  • Manage and develop an HR Administrator and HR Officer
  • Assist the HR manager in developing a coaching culture within this division of the Europe business
  • Ensure all Company personnel files and computerised data is accurate and up to date.
  • Work on specific projects, as required
  • Acceptance of other duties and responsibilities as may reasonably be requested.
  • Ideally educated to degree level and preferably CIPD qualified or equivalent experience gained in an HR business environment
  • Operational experience in a human resources role in a large manufacturing organisation
  • Employee/labour relations management experience
  • Proven experience of managing a team
  • Experience of working within a business that supports a coaching culture
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of employment law and general HR policies and procedures.
  • An understanding of LEAN manufacturing would be desirable
  • Proven experience of operating effectively within a team, as well as, independently at all levels within an organisation.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and proven ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Key attributes:
