The 7% – How Chiumento joined the Investors in People Elite

Chiumento has always tried to find interesting ways to stand out from the HR and Talent Management crowd. We first achieved the Investors in People Standard in 1998 and at the time we were told we were the first HR consultancy to be accredited. Since then, many of our competitors have realised the importance of IiP so over recent years they have been playing catch up.

With this in mind, we thought it was about time to differentiate ourselves again. So we are proud to announce that we have recently been awarded the Investors in People Gold Standard.

We are proud for a couple of reasons, not least because the gold standard has only been achieved by around 7% of those accredited but also because it has involved detailing over 160 evidence requirements across a number of business areas. These areas include Learning & Development, Social Responsibility, People Management, Employee Empowerment and Business Strategy. Mostly though, we are proud of our achievement because it has officially validated what we have always believed. That we practice what we preach.

This framework of evidence requirements looks through a business’ approach to its employees and identifies whether or not they are adhering to best practice. Chiumento has a set of living values that are embedded in our culture and these are central to the way we operate and behave as an organisation. With the IiP accreditation, Chiumento has demonstrated that the management is open to new ideas, that employees are involved in strategy development and that we have a flexible approach to L&D and self-improvement.

Ultimately it demonstrates that we have a diverse and talented workforce that makes the most of people’s talents, helping us adapt to new projects effectively and allowing for continuous improvement and development both individually and across the wider business.

As the Project Lead on achieving the Investors in People Gold I was never nervous about the result. It was a tough challenge and all of the staff here put in a huge amount of work to achieve it, but it was all worth it to see the standard certificate on our wall replaced by a much classier Gold one.
